SEC Football Experiences

On a sports talk show today, callers were calling in with the best place to watch a college game. I've decided to write my 2 cents on my experiences in the SEC. I have been to every SEC stadium with the exception of Kentucky's Commonwealth Stadium.

1.) Jordan Hare Stadium (Auburn, AL) - I'm an alum, so I'm bias.
2.) Neyland Stadium (Knoxville, TN) - Although the school's color resembles dehydrated cat piss, their fans are knowledgeable, tailgating is solid, and the atmosphere in the stadium is unbelievable. The loudest stadium that I have ever been in.
3.) Tiger Stadium (Baton Rouge, LA) - Contrary to what most people say, I find their fans extremely fun. I enjoy giving visiting fans a ribbing as well. I have never had a bad experience in this place. Tailgating is fabulous, as the Cajuns know how to have a good time.
4.) Sanford Stadium (Athens, GA) - The campus is pretty and tailgating is nice. A beautiful stadium and the experience would rank higher if their fans weren't such asses. Not a fan of the town either.
5.) Bryant Denny Stadium (Tuscaloosa, AL) - Good atmosphere and The Strip is fun. Nice stadium although the announcer and elephant sound effects are a disgrace to college football.
6.) Donald W. Reynolds Razorback Stadium (Fayetteville, AR) - One of the prettier campuses in the conference. A pain in the ass to get to, but it's worth the visit. The stadium is nice, jumbo tron is huge, and the calling of the hogs is quite entertaining.
7.) Ben Hill Griffin Stadium (Gainesville, FL) - Unique stadium, but ugly. A lot of tank tops and body gold in the place as well. The song and sway between the 3rd and 4th quarters is neat. It's more fun to hang out at the bar, The Swamp, than the stadium aka "The Swamp."
8.) Commonwealth Stadium (Lexington, KY) - Never been for a football game, but The Rupp experience is amazing. It's got to be better than the remaining 4 joints.
9.) Williams Brice Stadium (Columbia, SC) - Very overrated. The tailgating sucks and the stadium is located on the city's fairgrounds. Very hokey on the inside as the team comes out on the field to 2001: The Space Odyssey and Cocky running out on the field. Has a minor league baseball game atmosphere.
10.) Vanderbilt Stadium (Nashville, TN) - No atmosphere in this place. The visiting team usually has more fans than the 'Dores.
11.) Davis Wade Stadium (Starkville, MS) - Fans are friendly, but I have yet to find the town of Starkville and the stadium is a dump. Having to listen to Bad to the Bone and Who Let the Dogs Out only makes the experience worse.
12.) Vaught Hemingway Stadium (Oxford, MS) - The stadium is a shithole. The Grove could be fun if you didn't have to listen to their fans talk about what a great school Ole Miss is and how great a football team they have. Their fans are the most far removed from reality that I have ever come across which makes for a brutal experience.

OK, let me get this straight, so drinking lemonade and rolling a tree (something most of us got out of our system in Jr. High) is way cooler than sipping a Toddy under the shade of tall stately Oaks all the while checking out some of the most beautiful women in the world.

This guy is obviously a tool who can't fit in. Probably felt like he was "looked down on" when in the Grove just like he was in high school and on through college. Probably could only get into a nerd frat or just wore black everyday and listened to The Cure and wants to get even.

Yea, I will go with Sports Illustrated's opinion over this tool which rated Ole Miss' game day experience as the Number 1 tailgating in the Country.

We'll, if we are talking LOSERS, you failed to mention the all time worst college basketball spreadbuster when the opposing team hit a "from the hip" toss from just shy of half court as time expired against Duke in January 2002. That brought them within 14.......spread was 14.5......BAD, VERY BAD.

i am sure not all auburn alum are as stupid as you. Williams Brice is not located on the fair grounds its beside the fair grounds and 2001 entrance is one of the best in college football. your list should be reversed if people want a true ranking.
